BLACKSBURG POLICE OFFICER THREATENED
Blacksburg police arrested a New York man Thursday after an officer was threatened.John Crandall, 41, of Scotia, N.Y., was charged with disorderly conduct, assaulting a police officer and obstruction of justice by resisting arrest.
Crandall was apprehended on the U.S. 460 bypass about 9:15 a.m. after a citizen called to complain that a man was walking down the highway, Sgt. Bruce Bradberry said.
When approached, the man picked up a large stick and threatened the officer. He dropped the stick and fled, but was caught in a nearby field.
Crandall was being held in Montgomery County jail without bond.
