EX-SHRINE LEADER R.E. SLAYDON DIES

Robert E. "Toby" Slaydon, a past potentate of the Kazim Temple, died Thursday. He was 73.

Slaydon was elected the 49th potentate of the Masonic organization in 1968. He was a past master of the Lakeland and Cave Spring Masonic lodges. He had been serving as chaplain of the Cave Spring lodge.

He was retired from Appalachian Power Co.

The funeral will be noon Saturday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
