MINING LECTURE AT VA. TECH

Michael Karmis, the Stonie Barker professor of mining and minerals and the engineering department head, will deliver the distinguished-professor lecture April 23 at 4 p.m. at the Donald Brown Continuing Education Center.

The title for Karmis' talk is "Mining, Education and Everything." It will deal with the pervasiveness of mineral consumption in our society and the resulting need for the mining industry, as well as the serious technological, economic, environmental and social challenges of the future.

The lecture is open to the public.
