OBIT JONES, MINNIE DIXON
JONES, Minnie Dixon, 86, of Route 4, Rocky Mount, died Friday, April 9,
1993, at her residence. Since 1934, Mrs. Jones has been a member of the
Gogginsville United Methodist Church, where she was active in the UMW of the
church. She was a devout christian wife and mother. Mrs. Jones was preceded in
death by her husband, Henry D. (Bob) Jones; one brother, Harry Dixon.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Goldie J. and George Overfelt,
Rocky Mount, Elva J. and Carl Mann, Pratts, Va., Mable J. and Tommy Flora,
Rocky Mount; three sons and daughters-in-law, Melvin D. and Betty Jones,
Lynchburg, Robert D. and Marjorie Jones, John F. and Carol Ann Jones, all of
Rocky Mount; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mae
Jones, Troutville; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mrs. Lena Dixon, Clara
and John Housman, Mrs. Casey Bernard, Bettye and George Scribner, James N. and
Emma Jones; special cousins, Lottie and Roy Flora. Funeral services will be
conducted at Gogginsville United Methodist Church, 2 p.m. Monday with Rev. L.
Stanley Wright Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Gogginsville United Methodist
Church, care of Marjorie Jones, Treasurer, Route 4, Box 1750, Rocky Mount, Va.
24151. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the church,
and other times at the home of George and Goldie Overfelt. Arrangements by
Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
