LACROSSE-BLATT LEADS ROANOKE MEN TO VICTORY
J.J. Blatt scored five goals as the Roanoke College men's team slipped past previously unbeaten Denison 15-14 at Granville, Ohio. The Maroons (7-1) jumped to a 14-6 lead, but Denison (8-1) outscored Roanoke 8-1 in the fourth quarter. Goalie Craig Fleming had 24 saves for the Maroons, who are ranked sixth in Division III.Sophomore Liz Florence and freshman Kirsten Wagner each had four goals as the Roanoke women's team remained unbeaten in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference with an 18-11 victory over Randolph-Macon. The Maroons are 6-2 overall, 4-0 in the ODAC.
Lisa Dowling scored a school record eight goals as eighth-ranked Washington and Lee overcame a slow start to defeat Gettysburg 16-12 in a non-conference women's game in Lexington.
Chris Feltmann had four goals and one assist as VMI downed Fairfield 16-3 in a men's game at Patchin Field in Lexington. The Keydets (5-4) allowed only 22 Fairfield shots and had 85 ground balls to Fairfield's 32. Fairfield is 2-6.
