OBIT BROCKENBROUGH, M. J.

BROCKENBROUGH, M. J. ("Jack"), 64, of Buena Vista, died April 10, 1993, in a Lexington hospital. He was born in Buena Vista November 30, 1928, the son of the late Bernard J. and Myrtle Orr Brockenbrough. He was a realtor with Morris Realty Co. of Buena Vista. He was a member of the Buena Vista Baptist Church. He had served on Buena Vista City Council from 1974 to present except for a brief period due to health. Elected mayor in 1978, 1982, and 1992, currently serving in that position. He served his country in the U. S. Army. He attended Washington and Lee University and Virginia Tech. He was a member of the Buena Vista Masonic Lodge #186. Surviving are his wife, Eunice Warner Brockenbrough; one daughter, Cynthia Campbell, Lexington; one son, M. C. "Jacky" Brockenbrough, Buena Vista; four sisters, Helen B. Pohlig, Falls Church, Margaret B. Rogers, Lovington, Majorie Jones, Bridgewater, Louise B. McMinn, Nashville, Tenn.; three brothers, Bernard O. Brockenbrough, Martinsville, Thomas W. Brockenbrough, Newark, Del., Roger L. Brockenbrough, Pittsburgh, Pa.; three stepdaughters, Sherry Marshall, Churchville, Terry Rinaca, Shenandoah, Kerry Holloway, Singers Glen; Two stepsons, Jerry Warner, Vinton, Perry Warner, Monterey; four grandchildren and 14 stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at the Buena Vista Baptist Church by the Rev. David Bain and Dr. Chip Pendleton. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Lomax Funeral Home.
