SECRET REPORT SAYS HANOI LIED ABOUT POWS
A secret document found in Soviet Communist Party archives may be a "smoking gun" that proves North Vietnam withheld information about American prisoners in the 1970s, a newspaper reported.North Vietnam was holding 1,205 American prisoners of war in 1972 while officially saying that the number was only 368, The New York Times, citing the document, reported in today's editions.
The document was written by a senior North Vietnamese general and delivered to the Communist Party Politburo in Hanoi in September 1972, The Times said.
