OBIT SURRATT, DONNA ALDERMAN

SURRATT, Donna Alderman, 41, of Route 5, Box 615, Hillsville, Va., died at her residence on April 10, 1993, after a five year battle with cancer. Donna was among the first graduating class of Carroll County High School. She attended Emory and Henry College for two years. She earned a BA degree from Radford University and a Masters degree from VPI & SU in Elementary Guidance. She was a guidance counselor with Carroll County Schools. Donna was a faithful member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she played the piano, worked with the youth, and the United Methodist Women for several years. She was a devoted christian wife and mother of three. Donna was loved by all. Surviving are her husband, Gary S. Surratt; three children, Amy, Alena and Matthew, all of the home; parents, Kenneth C. and Vista Alderman, Hillsville; one brother, Nelson Alderman, his wife, Patricia Alderman, and their son, David Alderman, Vinton; mother-in-law, Margie Surratt, Hillsville; seven nephews; and four nieces. Funeral services will be conducted at Shiloh United Methodist Church on Tuesday, April 13, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bill Edmonds and the Rev. Andy Ferguson officiating. Interment to follow in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Shiloh United Methodist Church, Hillsville, on Monday, April 12, from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church.
