DOES CITY NEED TO HIRE CONSULTANT?
REGARDING the headlines in the March 8 edition of the Roanoke Times & World-News, "City wants workers' help to stop waste" and, on the same page, "Firm will help find replacement for Schlanger":If Schlanger was spending most of his time on the telephone on personal business, who was running the finance department? Answer: Acting Finance Director and Schlanger's top assistant, James Grisso. So, who would be better qualified for the job?
Simple math: Instead of paying a North Carolina consulting firm $14,900, give Grisso the job of finance director. Give me $7,450, which is a savings of $7,450 of the taxpayers' money, and tell the North Carolina firm to take a hike. DANNY C. MITCHELL HUDDLESTON
