OBIT MELCHIONNA, DR. OLIN R.
MELCHIONNA, Dr. Olin R., 78, of Roanoke, died April 12, 1993. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Hooker Thorn Melchionna, and is survived by his son, Olin R. Melchionna Jr.; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Snead (Lin) Melchionna; and granddaughters, Elizabeth Marie Melchionna and Ann Andrews Melchionna. Dr. Melchionna, a graduate of the University of Maryland and the Chicago Medical School, practiced medicine in Roanoke for over fifty year, until August 1992. He served as Chief of General Practice at Roanoke Memorial Hospital and was an active member of the Williamson Road Lions Club. Funeral Mass of the Resurrection will be from St. Andrew's Catholic Church at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 1993, with the Rev. Father Joseph Metzger officiating. Entombment will be in Ferncliffe Abbey, Evergreen Cemetery. The Christian Wake service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 1993, at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel. The family will recieve friends at Oakey's Roanoke from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
