MARY SUE TERRY TO SPEAK AT GRADUATION

Democratic gubernatorial candidate and former Virginia attorney general Mary Sue Terry will be this year's Radford University commencement speaker.

Terry will speak May 1 at 10 a.m. on Moffett Quad Lawn.

Terry, who was attorney general for six years, resigned that position to campaign for governor. She was Virginia's highest elected female official and the first woman to serve as president of the National Association of Attorneys General.

A native of Patrick County, Terry holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Richmond and master's and law degrees from the University of Virginia. Before becoming attorney general in 1985, she served five terms in the Virginia House of Delegates.

Nearly 1,600 students will receive degrees at this year's commencement exercises.

Commencement activities start at 8 a.m. on May 1 with the Graduate College hooding ceremony in Preston Auditorium. Individual college ceremonies and the awarding of diplomas will begin at 11:30 a.m.
