GOVERNOR'S AWARDS FOR VOLUNTEERISM

Six 1993 Governor's Awards for Volunteering Excellence were awarded in the New River Valley.

Each year, non-profit agencies, groups, clubs and businesses nominate outstanding volunteers for this special recognition.

The 1993 winners:

Radford Community Hospital Auxiliary's The Baby Closet.

Sue Voelkel, a YMCA Ecocycle volunteer at Virginia Tech.

Whitfield Cobb, a transportation volunteer for the Voluntary Action Center.

Jean Anderson, a New River Valley Hospice volunteer.

The Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry.

Mabel Catron, a volunteer financial counselor for the Virginia Cooperative Extension Service.
