STATE LIBRARIAN PLANS SPEECH IN ABINGDON

John C. Tyson, the state librarian for Virginia, will be the keynote speaker at a meeting April 30 of the Southwest Virginia Information Network Group at the Washington County Public Library.

The meeting will start at 11 a.m. and Tyson will speak at 1 p.m.

He was University of Richmond librarian before becoming state librarian. His degrees include a doctorate in library administration from Simmons College in Boston.

The network group is a consortium of 70 libraries and library systems serving Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee.
