AMERICAN MUSIC FAIR AT FINE ARTS CENTER
The Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley will sponsor the American Music Fair May 14-15.The celebration of American music will feature live performances and music-related events. It will be held at the Pulaski County Fairgrounds on Virginia 100.
There will be continuous performances on two stages, running gamut of music from old time, classical, and jazz to country, bluegrass, rock, Big Band, blues, gospel, and others. Up to 30 regional bands and visiting headliners are expected.
Among groups scheduled are the U.S. Navy bluegrass band, Country Currents. Southwest Virginia native and bluegrass songwriter and performer Randall Hylton also will appear and emcee. Hylton, a member of the Bluegrass Hall of Fame, also will conduct guitar workshops.
There will be an area for food and non-food vendors.
Special programs include a clogging competition on May 14 and high-school specialty band performances on May 15.
