NAVY CREW RESCUES TEEN-AGE BOATERS
A Navy helicopter from the aircraft carrier USS America rescued three people Tuesday from a capsized fishing boat in the James River, the Navy said.The SH-3 helicopter was monitoring the river's channel as the America left Norfolk for training operations when a second aircraft spotted the capsized boat and reported in, said Lt. Walter Reed, a Navy spokesman.
The rescue operation occurred shortly after 2 p.m. A rescue swimmer jumped into the water and helped the boaters into a hoist.
The three teen-age boaters from Grafton, who were not identified, were taken to a hospital for treatment of mild hypothermia. - Associated Press
