OBIT BURNETTE, GARNIE WAYMAN

BURNETTE, Garnie Wayman, 71, of Meadows of Dan passed away Monday, April 12, 1993, in a Salem hospital. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from J. P. Stevens. Surviving are his wife, Christine Dalton Burnette, Meadows of Dan, Va.; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Mary Burnette, Willis, Va.; two daughters and son-in-law, Elsie and Nelson Stanley, Patrick Springs, Va., Reeda Burnette, Stuart, Va.; stepdaughter and husband, Brenda and Mick Merlin, Roanoke, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Hava Burnette, Willis, Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Luvina and Sparell Dalton, Laurel Fork, Va.; nine grandchildren, Gary Burnette, Ronda Barker, Ricky Burnette, David Stanley, Darrell Burnette, Dawn Stanley, Angel Burnette, Jeffrey Burnette, Heather Burnette; three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with the Rev. Karcha Jennings, the Rev. Alton Griffin and the Rev. Roy Turpin officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville Cemetery, Floyd, with graveside services by Hillsville V.F.W. Post #1115. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Maberry Funeral Home.
