OBIT MOSELEY, REV. CLAUDE FRANKLIN
MOSELEY, Rev. Claude Franklin, 89, of McGaheysville, died noon Monday, April 12, 1993, at the Bridgewater Home in Bridgewater, Va. The Rev. Moseley, a retired United Methodist minister and son of the late B. F. Moseley and Lucy Eubank Moseley, was born November 28, 1903, in Mecklenburg County, Va. He earned a bachelor's degree at Randolph-Macon College, attended Yale Divinity School, and received a master of theology degree at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond. The Rev. Moseley entered the ministry in what is now the Virginia Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. He served many churches including: Cartersville, Amelia, Newsome, Basic and Waynesboro; Calvary and Central in Richmond; Trinity in Roanoke; Central in Arlington; Colonial Avenue in Norfolk; Community in Dempsville; and Tabernacle in Poquoson. In 1968, he retired to McGaheysville in the Valley of Virginia. He was preceded in death in 1971 by his wife, Lucile Hopkins Moseley. Survivors include a son, Dr. Gerard F. Moseley, Eugene, Ore.; a daughter, Frances Moseley Purdum, Richmond; and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Steele Moseley, Newport News. Also surviving are six grandchildren, David Moseley, Elizabeth Moseley and Benjamin Moseley, all of Eugene, Ore., Mrs. Carter Purdum Moretz and Dr. Preston Purdum III, both of Richmond, Michelle Moseley of Newport News; and three sisters, Mrs. Ruth M. Brown of Bridgewater, Mrs. Mildred M. Rogerson of Richmond, Mrs. Rachel M. Cornell of Roanoke. His body was cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel in Harrisonburg, and a memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 1993, from the Asbury United Methodist Church with Dr. Donald H. Traylor officiating. Burial will be private in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at McGaheysville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any memorials be sent to the Polysystic Kidney Research Foundation, 922 Walnut St., Kansas City, Mo. 64106.
