Jesus Christ is the man whom wayward Momma Lily discovers she needs in the gospel musical "I Need A Man," on stage at the Roanoke Civic Center tonigh and Thursday.Get set for some hand-clapping, heart-thumping, house-rocking gospel.
Major makeup wizardry transforms sultry songstress Alyson Williams into her 55-year-old character, Momma Lily. Cheryl "Pepsii" Riley, of the R&B group Full Force, play's Lily's daughter, Lisa. Dap "Sugar" Willie recreates his character "Looting Lenny" from the TV sitcom "Good Times." And singers David Peaston and Roy Fegan round out the ensemble.
Playwright/producer Michael Matthews says "I Need a Man" is about both the seriousness and foibles of choosing someone to love. He credits Jesus Chhrist as executive producer in pulling off this, his fourth musical endeavor.
