OBIT WEAVER, L. DAVIS

WEAVER, L. Davis, 74, of Vinton, died Tuesday, April 13, 1993, at his home. He was the son of the late Harry and Ina Crouch Weaver. He was born and raised in Vinton and was a member of the Vinton Baptist Church. He attended National Business College and went to work for the Norfolk & Western Railway in the early 40's as a secretary. He was transferred to Kentucky and Ohio and spent 25 years in Detroit, Michigan as Manager of the Coal Traffic Department from which he retired in 1981. Upon the death of his first wife in 1988 he returned to the Roanoke area. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Lyon Weaver; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Jon Gelberg of Montclair, N.J.; two grandsons, Michael and Robert; also a brother, Curtis Weaver; two nephews, David and Richard Weaver, all of Roanoke; a niece and nephew, Rose Marie Lawhorn, and Douglas Howard, both of Vinton; he is also survived by five stepchildren and ten stepgrandchildren. Memorial services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 4 p.m. Thursday, April 15, with the Rev. Dr. William L. Ross officiating. Memorials may be made to the Vinton Baptist Church. Friends may call at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
