FIRST FAMILY PAYS $70,228

President Clinton and his wife, Hillary, paid $70,228 in federal income taxes for 1992 on an adjusted gross income of $290,697 - most of it hers.

Hillary Rodham Clinton, a lawyer, has long been the main breadwinner. Bill Clinton made $34,527 last year as Arkansas governor.

The couple sent a $4,085 check to the IRS. "Took a pretty good lick," the president said.
