SCHERBO BEST MALE AT WORLD GYMNASTICS MEET

Vitali Scherbo, who won six gold medals at the Barcelona Olympics, won the men's all-around final at the World Gymnastics Championships in Birmingham, England.

Scherbo totaled 56.174 points to win the gold medal. Sergei Charkov of Russia won the silver with 55.625 points and Andreas Wecker of Germany took the bronze with 55.450 to win the bronze.

Scott Keswick of Las Vegas was the only American to reach the final 24 competitors, coming in ninth.
