HELICOPTER CRASH LANDS IN SMOKIES; PILOT HURT
A helicopter apparently lost power and made a crash landing along a road in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Friday afternoon. The helicopter is owned by Ranger Helicopter Services Inc. of Roanoke, according to park spokeswoman Nancy Gray.
The pilot, Marc Anthony Corder of Midlothian, Va., was taken to a Knoxville hospital where he was listed in stable condition. He was the only occupant.
"He's alert and conscious with good vital signs, but complains of some back pain and other injuries," said Gray.
A medical helicopter collected the pilot and flew him to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, said spokeswoman Lisa McNeal. - Associated Press
