FREDERICKSBURG COLLEGE GETS $3 MILLION DONATION

A 1964 graduate of Mary Washington College and her husband have donated $3 million, the largest gift the school has received in its 85-year history, officials said Friday.

A large part of the gift from Alice Andrews Jepson and Robert S. Jepson Jr. of Savannah, Ga., will be applied toward construction of an $11.7 million science center and an endowed faculty salaries program.

Mary Washington President William M. Anderson Jr. said the gift allows the center to be built several years ahead of schedule.
