OBIT HIGGINBOTHAM, GEORGE

HIGGINBOTHAM, George, of 2960 Glenrose Ave., Roanoke, N.W., passed away Thursday, April 15, 1993, at his residence. He was the son of the late William and Elizabeth Higginbotham. He retired from the Norfolk & Southern Railroad. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Julia Higginbotham; three daughters, Elizabeth Stovell, Mattie Lee Johnson, both of Roanoke, Charlene Walker of Camden, N.J.; one stepdaughter, June Harris of Roanoke; one stepson, Melvin Murphy, Straford, Conn.; one brother, Henry Higginbotham of Los Angeles, Calif.; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; a devoted aunt, Mary Ann Harris of Silver, Spring, Md.; five sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 20, 1993, at 11 a.m. at the Bedford Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, Shiloh, in Bedford County. The remains will lie in state from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service. Arrangements by Bedford Funeral Home.
