CONTROL PROBLEM OF STRAY CATS
IN THE past couple of years, there has been an alarming rise in the number of cats that have been abandoned in this valley. Yes, some of these animals are fortunate to find good homes, but that number is miniscule when you compare it to the number that do not.Abandoned animals are often exposed to diseases. Another problem is that very seldom are they neutered or spayed. This leads to unwanted litters of kittens.
I read Tammy Javier's March 18 letter to the editor, "Why cat licensing is needed". I fully support her sentiments. If the licensing of cats would help with the reduction of strays, it should be a priority.
