NAMES & CHANGES

Piedmont Label official retires

DABNEY C. LOVING, vice president of marketing and sales for Piedmont Label Co., has announced his retirement effective May 1.

A native of Lynchburg, he began his career with the Bedford company in 1960 as a salesman. He travelled extensively in the Southeast before returning to Bedford in 1978 to assume the position of director of marketing and sales. He was promoted to the position of vice president in January 1980 and elected to the firm's board of directors in 1986.

\ COLIN P. SCHNEEWEISS will become director of sales and marketing. Currently national accounts manager, Schneeweiss joined Piedmont in 1990. He formerly worked as director of marketing and sales for The Salem Label Co. in Salem, Ohio.

COLLEGES & UNIVERSITIES

\ JOHN McGUIRE has been named associate dean of students at Radford University. He coordinates the university's judicial system and works with student clubs and organizations. McGuire previously worked as assistant director for student leadership development at the University of Puget Sound for four years. He also worked in academic advising at Oregon State. He holds a bachelor's degree from Seton Hall University, a master's degree from Southern Illinois University and a doctorate from Oregon State University in Corvallis.

FINANCIAL PLANNING

\ JUDY Y. MORRIS has received the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation from the International Board of Standards and Practices for Certified Financial Planners. She is an associate with the National Life of Vermont and Equity Services.

LAW\ \ JEFFREY A. FLEISCHHAUER and L. BRAD BRAFORD have been named associates with Bird, Kinder & Huffman, P.C. in Roanoke. A graduate of Marietta College, the University of Connecticut and the University of Tulsa School of Law, Fleischhauer previously practiced in Oklahoma and Roanoke. Braford is a graduate of Virginia Tech and the Washington and Lee University School of Law. He formerly worked as a law clerk to the Honorable Walter E. Hoffman in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and practiced in Harrisonburg.

Also, KENNETH J. LASKY has taken over the firm's immigration practice. He\ succeeds ROBERT W. GOODLATTE, who has withdrawn from the firm after being\ elected to the United States House of Representatives.

MANUFACTURING

\ PAM DAWSON has been appointed national sales manager for the Ridgeway Clocks division of Pulaski Furniture Corp. She will be responsible for the coordination of sales, marketing and promotion for the company. An employee for 10 years, she was previously sales manager of the Pulaski western division.

Mod-U-Kraf Homes, manufacturer of modular homes, apartments and commercial buildings, has re-elected the following directors: DALE H. POWELL, Stuart; EDWIN J. CAMPBELL, Roanoke; DR. FRANK H. DUDLEY, Rocky Mount; W. CURTIS CARTER, Stuart; and J. DILLARD POWELL, Union Hall. The following have been elected officers for 1993: president and chairman of the board, DALE H. POWELL; vice president and corporate secretary, EDWIN J. CAMPBELL; treasurer, M. JAN OLIVER; controller, JEFFREY L. BOUDREAUX; and assistant corporate secretary, YOLANDA K. MILLER.

MEDICINE\ \ BARTHOLOMEW D. MYLES, president of Stonewall Jackson Hospital in Lexington, has announced that he will resign his position effective June 30. Myles was named president of the hospital in 1990, succeeding L.E. Richardson.

\ GARY SWINK, vice president of fiscal services, has been named administrator until a new president is found.

During his tenure, Myles supervised a reorganization of the hospital's management structure designed to help the hospital deal with diminishing Medicare and Medicaid payments and other changes in the health care field. He was also responsible for the improvement of emergency room services by bringing in doctors who live in the community, creating an ambulance service, providing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to help doctors in diagnosis and establishing a cardiology clinic.

ORGANIZATION

\ The Valleys of Virginia chapter of the American Society for Training & Development has announced the following officers: president, BARRY REECE, Virginia Tech; president-elect, GAILEN MILES, Milestones Performance; vice president-communications, DAVID SAVILLE, Alleghany Regional Hospital; vice president-finance, FRANCES MITCHELL, New River Community College; vice president-membership, JANICE MORRIS, Leggett Stores; and vice president-programs, SUSAN WILEY, training consultant.\

RETAIL

\ WILLIAM M. FOSTER, CPA has been appointed operations manager and ERVIN GLADDEN, TODD LEE and DEREK SARVER have been named customer sales representatives at CMC Supply.

With a bachelor's degree in accounting, Foster has worked as a controller for 13 years and spent three years in public accounting.

Gladden, who formerly worked as a wholesale buyer for Duncan Enterprises, will specialize in hammer and bits for the drilling industry.

Previously a salesman with Rick Woodson, Lee will service the Smith Mountain Lake, Blacksburg and Lynchburg areas.

Sarver will cover the Roanoke area. Formerly employed by Noland Co., he has five years experience in the well, pump and plumbing industry.

TOURISM

\ AMELIA CLARK and ARLENE POWERS have joined the Roanoke Valley Convention & Visitors Bureau as convention sales managers. Previously an account representative in North Carolina, Clark will generate new convention leads for the Roanoke Valley and will cover the government, fraternal, religious and reunion markets. Powers, who has extensive marketing and banking experience at Signet Bank, will generate leads within the insurance, corporate, medical and military markets.
