FOOTBALL-KEYDETS HOLDS SPRING SCRIMMAGE

Former Lord Botetourt standout Chris Meacham gained 36 yards on six carries and scored a touchdown to lead VMI's offense in a controlled scrimmage at Alumni Memorial Field in Lexington.

Fullback Bryant McMillian gained the most rushing yards, carrying five times for 39 yards.

The offense scored three times, and the defense kept the offense from crossing the 20-yard line on four possessions. The scoring plays come on a 50-yard scramble by quarterback Jason Ross, a 3-yard run by Meacham and a 5-yard run by Eric Walker, which capped a 10-play, 50-yard drive.

The defense was led by senior linebacker Camillus Musselman, who made six tackles and recovered a fumble. Strong safety Jeff Hubbard made four tackles and defensive ends John Cross and Keith Burwell had 1 1/2 sacks each.
