UNC CHARLOTTE TRIPS TECH 10-8 IN BASEBALL
UNC Charlotte rallied for six runs in the top of the ninth inning to beat Virginia Tech 10-8 in Metro Conference baseball at English Field in Blacksburg on Saturday.The 49ers (16-17 overall, 3-4 Metro) trailed 8-4 heading into the final inning. They rallied when UNCC first baseman Rob Price hit a three-run double off right-hander Jonathan Frohm with one out.
Tech (22-9, 4-4) built a 7-0 lead during the first four innings with six of those runs coming in the bottom of the fourth. Shortstop Dee Dalton keyed the Hokies' six-run, six-hit fourth inning with a three-run homer to left field.
The teams conclude their three-game series today at 2 p.m.
