SOFTBALL-FERRUM LOSES IN DIXIE TOURNEY SEMIFINALS
North Carolina Wesleyan defeated Ferrum in a best-of-three series in the Dixie Conference women's tournament at Ferrum. The Battlin' Bishops won the first game 2-1 and lost 18-3 in the second game before rallying from a 9-6 deficit to beat the Panthers 10-9 in the last game.After starting the season 2-7, the Panthers won 10 of their last 13 games to finish 12-10.
Top-seeded Christopher Newport rolled past defending champion Methodist 15-7, 21-0 in the other semifinal series. The Captains made it to the final last year, but were defeated by the Monarchs.
N.C. Wesleyan and Christopher Newport will play for the title in a best two-of-three series starting at 10 a.m. today.
