OBIT GOODLETT, ZULA C.

GOODLETT, Zula C., 81, of Roanoke and formerly of Bluefield, W.Va., died suddenly Thursday, April 15, 1993, in Roanoke. She was born Zula Cundiff in Chamblissburg, Va., March 31, 1912, the daughter of the late Richard D. and Jennie White Cundiff. Mrs. Goodlett retired from the Norfolk and Western Railway in 1979 after 10 years of service as a stenographer-clerk in the Signals and Communications department. After her retirement, she worked a number of years as a volunteer with the American Red Cross in Roanoke. Mrs. Goodlett was married to Earl Gordon Goodlett, also employed by Norfolk and Western, who predeceased her in 1961. After over 27 years in West Virginia and Ohio, most often as a housewife, she returned to Roanoke in 1965. Surviving are a son, Earl Gordon Goodlett Jr, Silver Spring, Md.; a sister, Lottie C. Doffield, Roanoke; and a nephew, Richard Cundiff, Roanoke. Her youngest son, John Goodlett, predeceased her in 1969. Also surviving are two nieces, Martha Haliburton and Bristol, R.I., and Sue Rowden of San Francisco, Calif. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 19, 1993, with Dr. Gregory L. Adkins officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton.
