OBIT KENNEY, BERNARD JUNIOR

KENNEY, Bernard Junior, 59, of Route 2, Bassett, died Saturday morning, April 17, 1993, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital. He was born January 30, 1934, in Tazewell County, to the late Andrew Kenney and Nellie Davidson Kenney, and was preceded in death by one brother, Nicholas Kenney. Mr. Kenney was employed by Bassett Furniture Industries as a machinist for the past 38 years, was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Bassett Pentecostal Holiness Church. Surviving are his wife, Becky Dalton Kenney of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Tim (Leah) Haynes of Greenwood, S.C., Mrs. David (Beth) McAlexander of Charlotte, N.C.; four sisters, Stella Elizabeth Williams of Abbs Valley, Va., Louise Perry of Woolwine, Pauline Mitchell of Honaker, and Violet Edwards of Bassett; one brother, Johnnie Andrew Kenney, Christmas, Fla.; one grandchild, Stephen Andrew Haynes, Greenwood, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Bassett Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. David Robertson and Dr. James Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Collins Funeral Services Chapel in Bassett.
