BEER SALES MAKE A SMOKER FUME

AFTER READING that the Roanoke Civic Center Commission will be allowing the sale of beer at sporting events, I could not help but become quite angry. How can the same people who say that I, as a smoker, cannot enjoy a cigarette say that I should have to sit beside a person who is a loud mouth, profanity-spewing, throwing-up drunk?

Since there would be no way to control the amount of alcohol individuals can consume, would it not be a violation of law to have no restriction on beer, as is required in restaurants and bars?

How many teen-agers would be able to drive drunk as long as friends of legal age have made the beer purchases? They would become dangerous to themselves and everyone on the highway.

At least be fair in your discrimination. No smoking! No drinking! LAURA HARTMAN ROANOKE
