HUNTER SURPRISED BY KAMIKAZE TOM

Don Cole, an avid turkey hunter, has discovered an easier way to get a gobbler: No predaylight climbs up the side of a mountain, no chance of somebody messing him up.

Cole works the night shift and had wanted to try calling a tom the other morning but decided he was too tired, so he went to bed. About 6 a.m. he was awakened by the sound of a crash and the shout of his wife. A 17-pound turkey bearing a 9-inch beard had broken its neck when it flew into the side of his house in Blue Ridge.
