NEW ERA FOR BASS

The B.A.S.S. tournament trail went international for the first time when Norio Tanabe of Tokyo Japan won the BASSMASTER Kentucky Invitational on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes.

In two days of competition - the third was canceled when storms hit - Tanabe weighed nine bass that totaled 43 pounds, 6 ounces.

"I fish slow; jerk, jerk, twitch, stop," he said.

When asked who was his favorite pro, Tanabe chose Rick Clunn. Clunn was third, following Mike Saleeba. Woo Daves of Spring Grove finished 26th.
