BLACKSBURG STUDENT IN SCHOLAR-ATHLETE GAMES

Christopher Evans, a student at Blacksburg High, has been selected to play soccer at the World Scholar-Athlete Games June 20-July 1 at the University of Rhode Island.

Evans was all-New River District, all-Region IV, all-Timesland and all-Group AA last season. He also is an artist and mechanical draftsman, having won an award for his work from the Vocational and Industrial Clubs of America.

Participants in the games are 16-19 and are chosen for academic achievement, leadership and accomplishment in their sport.
