BLUE ROCKS BLANK BUCCANEERS 5-0

Brian Bevil and reliever Dario Perez blanked Salem on two hits as Wilmington shut out the Buccaneers 5-0 Tuesday night in Carolina League baseball.

Bevil (1-0) struck out four and walked one in seven innings, and Perez walked one in two hitless innings of relief for the Northern Division-leading Blue Rocks, who broke a two-game losing streak.

Wilmington's Darren Burton hit the first pitch by Buccaneers starter Dennis Konuszewski over the right-field wall for the Blue Rocks' first homer in their new stadium.

Gary Caraballo homered to left center with two out in the first to make it 2-0. \
