OBIT MASSIE, BILL J., LT. COL.

MASSIE, Bill J., Lt. Col., 51, of Vinton, died Sunday, April 18, 1993. He was a Uarco sales representative for 24 years and was an active member of U.S. Army Reserve #2174th. He was a member of Vinton Lodge #204 AF & AM and was a deacon at Vinton Baptist Church. Col. Massie was a member of the Vinton Breakfast Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bram and Fannie Earls Massie; and a brother, Sheffey Massie. Surviving are his wife, Ann M. Massie; a son, Todd Massie, Staunton; a daughter, Kim Massie, Johnson City, Tenn.; three sisters, Edith McGlothlin, Pounding Mill, Va., Ellen Clevenger, Michigan, Irene Salyers, Abingdon; one brother, Dr. Bernard Massie, Winchester. Services will be from Vinton Baptist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Dr. William Ross will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Vinton Baptist Church. Arrangements by Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
