CONTROVERSY INVADES THE `FUNNIES'

I AM DISAPPOINTED that the Roanoke Times & World-News is printing the comic strip "For Better Or For Worse." As long as Lynn Johnston wishes to deal with teen-age homosexuality, the "funny page" is not the place for expressing one's views on such a subject. This particular comic strip is among those that have always been viewed as family oriented and has been one that could be enjoyed by children and adults of all ages.

Today's youth and families face so many difficulties in everyday life that it sure would be nice to be able to continue to relax and unwind with the "funnies" and not have to be bombarded by such controversial issues. MARY HUTCHISON COVINGTON
