WALKERS TO RAISE FUNDS FOR MARCH OF DIMES

Dorman Fawley, president and chief executive officer of Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley, will serve as this year's honorary chairman of the 1993 March of Dimes "WalkAmerica for Healthier Babies."

The event, scheduled for Sunday, traditionally draws up to 1,500 walkers traveling a route around Roanoke. Last year, 1,200 raised $75,000 for the March of Dimes' programs.

This year, officials said the route will be shortened from nine to six miles. Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m., 45 minutes before the walk begins at 9 a.m. at the National Guard Armory on Reserve Avenue Southwest.
