WOMEN'S TENNIS TOURNEY TO RETURN

Women's professional tennis will return to Roanoke for the sixth straight year when Hunting Hills Country Club plays host to a $10,000 event this summer.

The USTA Women's Circuit of Roanoke will be held July 24-Aug. 1 and will include open qualifying matches to be played at area courts. The tournament attracts young pros trying to move up the rankings ladder as well as some highly ranked college players. The event will be co-sponsored by Hugh Sawyer & Co. and Avis Rent A Car.

Hunting Hills also is putting on the American Heart Association doubles tournament May 7-9. Those interested can call the club at 774-8880.

In other pro sports:

The Roanoke Civic Center box office is taking reservations for season-ticket sales for Roanoke-Hockey, Inc., the group hoping to land a 1993-94 East Coast Hockey League franchise.

The civic center will log orders on a first-come, first-serve basis. No money should be included in the orders since the club officially cannot sell tickets until getting franchise approval from the ECHL in league meetings on May 5-6. The group plans to announce ticket prices once gaining approval from the league.

All orders should be addressed: Hockey Season Sales, Roanoke Civic Center, P.O. Box 13005, Roanoke, Va. 24030.
