CIVIL WAR RE-ENACTORS TO RESTAGE OLD FIGHT

Civil War re-enactor units from five states will be in Lee County this weekend to re-stage the Battle of Jonesville.

Visitors are welcome to visit the encampment. The re-enactments will be 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the actual battle site just west of Jonesville.

A Meet the Soldiers Dinner will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at Jonesville Middle School. Tickets are $3.50.

A performance of Civil War music will follow, with tickets $2 for adults and $1 for students.

The re-enactment is sponsored by the Lee County Chamber of Commerce and 59th Tennessee Volunteer Infantry and Medical Corps. Proceeds will support school clubs and the 59th Volunteer Explorer Scout Post.
