SPACE STATION OFFICIAL RESIGNS DUE TO HEALTH

Joseph F. Shea, head of the team responsible for redesigning NASA's planned space station, submitted his resignation late Thursday after questions were raised about his health.

Shea, 68, a veteran of the Apollo moon program, had been hospitalized for undisclosed reasons shortly after his appointment in February to the post of assistant deputy administrator for space station analysis. For that reason, he had missed most of the redesign team's meetings.
