2 PROTESTERS ARRESTED AT ARMS CONVENTION

Two peace demonstrators passing out leaflets in a downtown hotel were arrested Thursday on trespassing charges.

The arrests came hours after the protesters disrupted a luncheon at the Waterside Marriott attended by military officers and arms dealers. The group unfurled a banner and asked the conventioneers to halt their arms trade.

Police said Bruce Friedrich, 23, of Washington and Steve Baggarly, 28, of Norfolk were being held on $1,500 bail. They were to be arraigned today.

The convention, ComDef '93, is an exposition of international and national defense equipment. - Associated Press
