MARINES END SOMALIA OPERATIONS

Capt. Robert Abbott was making his next-to-last cruise through the cactus jungle of Little Tokyo.

No, he said, it won't be difficult for his Marines to head back to Twentynine Palms, Calif. - back to family, cheeseburgers and beer. But it will be tough to say goodbye to those aided by Operation Restore Hope.

Friday was the last full day of patrols for Abbott's Marines in Mogadishu as the Americans prepared to hand over control of their final sector in Operation Restore Hope. Pakistani troops are to take over Monday.
