ISRAEL RULES OUT DEALS ON JERUSALEM

Israel's chief negotiator accepted a Palestinian overture to discuss human rights when Mideast peace talks resume, but ruled out any bargaining over the future of Jerusalem.

The city is Israel's capital and will remain undivided and under its sovereignty, Elyakim Rubinstein said Friday after a State Department session with U.S. officials in preparation for the reopening of negotiations next Tuesday.

Rubinstein said, however, his government was "open-minded" about a Palestinian request to consider human rights issues in the negotiations. "We'll hear what they have to say," Rubinstein told reporters. "We don't mind discussing living conditions."
