RICHLANDS DRIVER KILLED IN CRASH

A Richlands woman died Thursday morning after her four-wheel-drive vehicle lost control on an icy bridge near Tazewell and flipped.

Virginia Byrd White, 35, died at the scene of the 7:30 a.m. accident, a state police dispatcher said.

White's vehicle apparently went out of control on the bridge as she was heading east on U.S. 460, the dispatcher said. The vehicle struck an embankment and flipped. White was thrown from the vehicle, and it landed on top of her.

White, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.
