The School Board expelled a student involved in the latest incident at its April meeting.
The expulsion for the 11th-grade student at Rural Retreat High School will last through the rest of this school year. The student also faces prosecution in Wythe County Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court on a charge of bringing a weapon on school property.
A deputy last month noticed defective equipment on a pickup truck driven by the student as he was leaving school. A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded .45-caliber automatic handgun.
Superintendent James Vaught said the School Board will not tolerate weapons being carried by students onto school property.
Two of the incidents earlier this year also occurred at Rural Retreat High School. The other two happened at Rural Retreat Elementary School and George Wythe High School.
