BITING THE HANDS THAT FEED

REGARDING the March 30 letter to the editor by Marie Foley on the subject of building jails:

I agree 100 percent. When these inmates committed crimes, didn't they know jail wasn't a hotel? I would love for someone to prepare my meals and clean my house free of charge.

I don't mind paying extra to help build a new jail, because I feel a little safer with those thugs in there. If the sheriff would put them to work picking up trash and helping to keep our city cleaner, they would be so tired at night that they would sleep and keep their mouths shut.

I just can't believe that our city leaders let inmates sue over jail conditions. That's like biting the hand that feeds you. MAE JONES ROANOKE
