DRINKING WATER WEEK OBSERVANCE

To observe National Drinking Water Week, the water filtration plant on Virginia 114 near Prices Fork Road will hold an open house May 2, 1-5 p.m. The plant is operated by the Blacksburg-Christiansburg-VPI Water Authority.

Created in 1954, the water authority was the first of its kind in Virginia. The plant handles 12 million gallons of water per day.

There will be refreshments and handouts. Call 639-2575.
