COMIC STRIP TOOK WRONG TURN

MANY TIMES in the past I have felt like taking up pen and paper and sending you a note as if raising my voice in protest. I now do this in answer to another dagger driven into the heart of the American family way of life.

The comic strip, "For Better Or For Worse," was enjoyed by me and my family for several months. The new baby, the young son getting lost on the freeway, were real happenings. But suddenly the author of this strip and the editor of this newspaper took a left turn into the unnatural lane of life in our world. Sad, sad bitter flight, because "For Better Or For Worse" has left the better and we are left with the worse. RICHARD J. AKERS ROANOKE
